Ever been to Boston MA? It’s a great town. For first time visitors, I often recommend Boston tours as a way to see all the great sites around. You can certainly “do” the city without a tour. But I find that organized touring results in a better experience usually. Since Boston is on the water, there are many options here, including boat rides – which are always fun.
I’ve fond many of the Boston tours before and can tell you that they are a great idea because of all the history in this city. When you have such deep and interesting American history, it really pays to go on an organized tour. The reason is that you will have an educational experience. Sure, many people hear that and say “I’m on vacation, not in school.” But let’s get real. Learning something about what you are seeing makes it more fun. It also makes it more memoriable. And if you have kids, it helps them get smarter. And there are no tests here! So you should think about this.
The other big advantage to Boston tours is that you will not waste time on things that are not worth doing. I remember one trip where I spent an hour driving around trying to find this one site. When we go there, we said – how stupid was that? We could have seen 3 other things with all the time we wasted. On an organized tour they know exactly where to take you and how to do it.
A final point about Boston. It is a big city. This means parking will be REALLY REALLY bad. Don’t expect to find a great spot right next to a major attraction. Again, consider Boston tours as a way to avoid one of the top 5 worst traffic situations in the country.
